Testing equipment introduction
About testing facilities
The Japan Fire Equipment Inspection Association has installed various testing facilities, equipment and devices to carry out inspections and commissioned evaluations.
In addition, we have installed smoke exhaust equipment and recovery equipment to handle smoke, spent fuel and extinguishing agents (powder and foam) generated during fire extinguishing tests, and maintain environmentally friendly testing facilities.
Here we will introduce our testing facilities and testing equipment.

Testing Facility
-
Central Testing Center
We carry out sensitivity tests of smoke detectors and heat detectors, function tests of repeaters and receivers, sensitivity tests of closed sprinkler heads, etc.
In addition, we also handle the administrative functions of the Japan Fire Equipment Inspection Association. -
Fire extinguishing and water spray testing facility (smoke purification equipment)
We conduct fire extinguishing ability tests and radiation ability tests of fire extinguishers and extinguishing agents.
We also conduct water distribution tests using a sprinkler head water measurement device.
This test site is equipped with smoke purification equipment, which collects smoke and powder extinguishing agents generated during the extinguishing of combustion models (wood, heptane, etc.) used in the fire extinguishing test site, and passes them through a filtration device to discharge them outside as harmless air, thereby conducting environmentally friendly tests. -
Mechanical Testing Center
We conduct water discharge performance tests and continuous water discharge tests on powered fire pumps, etc.
-
Evacuation Equipment Testing Center
We test metal escape ladders and descent devices.
This is a testing facility where descent tests from 15 meters above ground can be performed. -
Sprinkler Fire Extinguishing Test Site
We conduct water distribution tests on sidewall sprinkler heads and small section heads.
-
Sensor Testing Center
We conduct sensitivity tests for flame detectors and photoelectric separation detectors, etc.
We also have a fully equipped electromagnetic interference testing room. -
Acoustic Testing Center and Information Center
It is equipped with an anechoic chamber for measuring the sound pressure of receivers, local sound equipment, emergency alarm systems, etc.
In addition, the information center exhibits various firefighting equipment. -
Branch/Running Water Detection Device Testing Station
We perform function tests of fire hoses, tests of water flow detection devices, etc. We also perform pressure tests of pressurized gas cylinders, tests of fire extinguishing agents, etc.
Test Equipment
-
Vibration test equipment for automotive fire extinguishers
This device applies vibration to fire extinguishers manufactured for installation in automobiles to test whether they function properly.
-
Water distribution measuring device
This device measures the amount of water sprayed from a closed sprinkler head and uses a computer to determine whether the appropriate amount of water is being sprayed to the appropriate place.
-
Smoke detector sensitivity test equipment
This device generates a smoke current inside the device to test whether the smoke detector detects smoke properly.
-
Flame detector sensitivity tester
This device uses a micro burner, etc. to test whether the flame detector is functioning properly.
-
Suspension ladder strength test device
This device applies load to metal escape ladders to measure their dimensions and perform strength tests.
-
Powered fire pump (large) performance test device
This device measures the pump's rotation speed, pump pressure, shaft output, etc. during water discharge performance tests and continuous water discharge tests of power fire pumps, and uses these data to measure the pump's performance.
